Tokyo 2020 logo design opened up to one and all

November 4th, 2015

As featured on the LogoBee blog just a couple of months ago, the designer of the logo for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games came under fire recently for allegedly plagiarising his design from the Théâtre de Liège in Belgium.

The artist Kenjiro Sano has vehemently denied that the logo was copied, saying he’d never even been to Belgium, let alone seen the logo before. Yet – under pressure from public opinion, and the threat of legal action by the Théâtre de Liège’s logo designer Olivier Debie – the International Olympics Committee (IOC) has taken the decision to withdraw Sano’s design.

So what will the logo be now?

In a controversial move, the IOC has announced a public competition.

Avril Lavigne heads contest to design new logo

April 9th, 2015

I’m generally not a fan of logo design competitions – they always seem like such a good idea; a way to engage your target market and perhaps find some as-yet undiscovered (and therefore cheap!) creative genius to help sell your brand.

In reality however, they can be a bit of a waste of time. For businesses who are serious about getting their branding and identity “right”, I’d always advise to hire a recommended and reputable designer or agency – someone who really knows what they are doing.

‘Pearl of Africa’ launches logo design competition

January 30th, 2014

In recent years and months, the African nation of Uganda has hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons – its poor record on human rights, a discriminatory legal stance on homosexuality, and widespread Government corruption to name but a few sticking points.

But despite its dubious politics, Uganda wants to encourage tourism from within Africa and outside. To this end, the Uganda Ministry of Tourism, together with the Uganda Tourism Board, has launched a competition that invites professional or wannabe designers to come up with a new logo for Uganda’s tourist industry.

WVCS hosts 24th Annual Picnic in the Park Fund Raiser

July 6th, 2008

Chance to show new logo design September the 6th will see the 24th annual Picnic in the Park hosted by West Valley Community Services, Inc. (WVCS) at the Cupertino Civic Center Plaza. This is a fundraising event to help support WCVS so that it may continue offering valuable non-profit services. This event will take a considerable amount of preparation, especially since they will be marketing their new logo design donated to them by LogoBee just prior to this event. However, WVCS does not shy away from hard work. WVCS is a non-profit organization; that is why they are required to host fundraising drives and events. They offer valuable services to the Santa Clara County area such as: food, shelter, clothes, affordable housing and financial assistance. In order for a fundraising event to be successful the general public must get involved. This requires a certain degree of public recognition for the non-profit group. This is why WVCS applied to the Annual LogoBee Logo Design Makeover Contest last December. Having a brand that is easy to remember is helpful when hosting events like the Picnic in the Park. The Picnic in the Park will involve a silent and live auction; and a BBQ sponsored by the generous people at the Outback Steakhouse. The event should be fun for all participants who attend.  So if you are in the area please drop by and help contribute to a worthwhile cause. Keep your eyes open for event posters with the new “Health – Home – Heart” logo design for more details about this event.

LogoBee constantly works with non-profit organizations

October 19th, 2007

Hope Works Santa Rosa gets new logo design! LogoBee holds a logo design makeover project every year; this offers non-profit groups a free logo and stationery design package. However, LogoBee continues to work with non-profits all throughout the year. For example, LogoBee recently completed a logo for Hope Works Santa Rosa. This is a faith-based non-profit organization. They work with gang-related youth to integrate their loyalty and skills in to the community and away from street gang activities. Their program focuses on four major elements. ‘Relationship Building’ to help these youths form positive friendships and relationships, this is done by offering them supportive role models; ‘Community Connection’ they are integrated in to the community through activities like city meetings, etc; ‘Personal Growth Training’ this element is designed to educate the youths about spirituality, making the right decisions and resolving disputes properly; and ‘Jobs’ where the youths are directed towards jobs in the community where their skills will be put to good use. Executive Director Daryl Reese commented on what it is like helping to redirect these young people towards better lifestyles; he said that “it is rewarding for me because I get to participate in someone experiencing hope and now looks forward to the future.” He also made it clear that the community in Santa Rosa is very supportive of what his organization does. They benefit from the lifestyle change that these youths undergo as well. This rewarding feeling is shared by LogoBee since they feel that working with non-profit groups is good for communities everywhere. Hope Works Santa Rosa’s new look is meant to convey certain aspects of the organization to the public. Mr. Reese wanted LogoBee to create a logo design that expresses the qualities of hope, new beginnings and freedom; as well as the business related qualities of strong relationships and professionalism.  When asked to comment on his new logo design he said, “We got all of that and more! I was highly impressed with the quality of the designs, the speed at which the work was done and the extremely reasonable cost.” LogoBee is glad that Hope Works has faith in their logo design work because they have a lot of faith in the work that they are doing in Santa Rosa.Additional information about LogoBee: LogoBee is a logo design and web design company that is based in Montreal, Canada.  For more information please visitwww.logobee.com.  You can send your questions to sales@logobee.com or call 1-888-905-6462.

LogoBee Interviews David Undis, Founder and Director of Lifesharers

March 15th, 2006

"LifeSharers is certainly an ingenious idea to increase the number and availability of organ donors. The more members it has, the more organ donors there will be and fewer people in need of organs will be unable to get them." -Milton Friedman, Nobel Laureate in Economics Introduction - LifeSharers.org was one of the lucky winners of the Logo Design Makeover contest held by LogoBee logo design earlier this year. LifeSharers is a non-profit organization that was created to help encourage organ donation through its innovative sharing network. Dave Undis, founder and executive director of the organization was kind enough to set aside some time to be interviewed about their organization and the logo design project. LogoBee - Hi Dave, thank you for taking the time to speak with us. Dave - My pleasure. LogoBee - First things first, could you give us a little bit of background on what LifeSharers stands for and why Lifesharers.org founded? Dave - Certainly. LifeSharers was founded to reduce the shortage of human organs for transplants in the United States. Read the rest of this entry »
